She evaded arrest for three months

Lucknow: After evading arrest for nearly three months, Vibha, wife of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Shekhar Tewari and an accused in the murder of the PWD engineer in Auriya, on Tuesday surrendered in a court which denied her bail.

Vibha, charged with hiding evidence in the Manoj Gupta murder case in which her husband is the main accused, was arrested after she surrendered in the Court of Chief Judicial magistrate, Auriya, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order, Brij Lal told reporters here.

Vibha’s bail applicable was rejected by the court which remanded her to judicial custody till March 19, the ADG said.

Meanwhile, police have sought remand of Vibha and the application would be heard by the district court on Wednesday.

Ten people, including Mr. Tewari, have been arrested while the then station officer of Dibiyapur, Hoshiyar Singh, who has also been named in the FIR, was still absconding.

Three others charged with hiding evidence in the murder case are yet to be arrested.

The PWD engineer was killed allegedly by the MLA and his men after he failed to meet their extortion demand on December 23 last year. -- PTI
