Religious procession today

NEW DELHI: To mark the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee will take out a procession in the Capital on Wednesday.

The procession comprising decorated horses, palki and shahidi jathas will start from Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib and pass through Pant Marg, Ashoka Road, Patel Chowk, Parliament Street, Connaught Circus, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, Gole Market, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and culminate at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.

The procession will start at 10 a.m.

Lawyers' strike

NEW DELHI: Judicial work at the Tis Hazari courts was affected for the second day with lawyers continuing their strike in protest against the functioning of a mediation cell and transferring of some of the courts to a new complex in Rohini.

A large number of litigants were left in the lurch as lawyers boycotted the courts. They also organised a large demonstration outside the complex.

A young lawyer who represented his client was pulled out of the court by DBA members, who threatened to cancel his membership if he did not participate in the strike.

CM opens workshop

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated a workshop on "Door-to-Door Garbage Collection" at India Habitat Centre here on Tuesday.

Organised by the New Delhi Municipal Council, the workshop was attended by representatives of 73 residents' welfare associations and 22 market associations. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Dikshit observed: "New Delhi is Delhi's drawing room, we should decorate it beautifully."

Aid for quake victims

NEW DELHI: Chief Organiser of Nehru Brigade Rakesh Dutta said on Tuesday that the third batch of volunteers would soon depart for Jammu and Kashmir with relief material for the earthquake victims.

Earlier, two batches of the Brigade went to the Poonch sector with relief material and a cheque for Rs.51,000 was handed over to the Lieutenant-Governor. The Lieutenant-Governor flagged off the two batches.

Simulator test

NEW DELHI: Maruti Udyog Limited will dedicate a special section for "Simulators Test" at the "Auto Expo" opening here on January 12.

For the first time in the Auto Expo, specially designed and eight imported simulator consoles will be showcased. The car manufacturing company has decided to emphasise on road safety and also showcase its new car models.Visitors to the Maruti stall will get an opportunity to get their driving skills evaluated.
