Nominations for MCD committee

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Secretary had received one nomination each for the posts of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi till Monday, the last day for filing nominations for the two posts.

The nominations were filed by senior BJP councillors Vijender Gupta and Yogender Chandolia on April 26 for the posts of Chairman and Deputy Chairman, respectively. The elections are scheduled for the first meeting of the MCD Standing Committee on Thursday.

CGHS employees to stage dharna

NEW DELHI: Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) employees working in dispensaries and hospitals here will stage a dharna on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the CGHS Headquarters on Shahjahan Road to press their pending demands.

They are demanding that 800 vacant posts in various CGHS establishments be filled up, proper maintenance of Service Book of the CGHS staff be ensured, provision of drinking water be made at all the dispensaries and timely confirmation of all the employees be provided.

"Need to resolve J&K issue"

NEW DELHI: The three-day "2nd Intra J&K Heart to Heart Talk" ended here over the weekend on a positive note with a demand being made to strengthen the ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan.

The speakers emphasised the need to seek a lasting resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue. They demanded that the aspirations of all the people of the region be met while reaching a resolution to the problem.

Besides 24 distinguished parliamentarians, a number of academicians, jurists and intellectuals participated in the event.

New portal launched

NEW DELHI: To help young innovators and upcoming scientists, Ideawicket.com has launched its "Open Innovation Portal". The website gives young innovators a platform to showcase and share their creations with the world.

The website also tries to rope in companies and corporations to adopt designs and models of these innovators. It already has many innovators from India as well as abroad showcasing their unique products.

"We want this site to become a bridge between innovators and corporations. It caters to the needs of those interested in sharing their innovative ideas, designs and techniques with others ," says Amar Aujla, the brainchild behind the website.
