NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old boy was run over by a Blueline bus at Maujpur here on Monday. The bus driver fled abandoning the vehicle.

According to the police, the accident took place around 7-30 a.m. when Dhruv Sharma, a Class XII student of Anglo Sanskrit School in Darya Ganj, and his schoolmates were boarding the Blueline bus plying on route 335 -- from Nandnagri to Hauz Khas.

Dhruv was about to get on to the bus when he fell on the road and came under the rear wheels.

Dhruv, whose father Sushil Sharma is a businessman, was rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 3 p.m.

The police have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving and launched a hunt for the driver.
