Party to adopt resolution in MCD proposing amnesty for all
`This move would enable the people of the Capital to live with honour'
NEW DELHI: For the purpose of saving Delhi from sealing and demolitions, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the Delhi Municipal Corporation will adopt a resolution proposing amnesty for all and then immediately forward the scheme to the Union Government for implementation, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan announced on Monday.
Dr. Vardhan said this move would enable the people of Delhi to live with honour. A ground survey would be conducted for including new roads to categorise them as mixed land use and commercial, he added.
The BJP leader also called upon all the people of Delhi to immediately inform in writing their respective Deputy Commissioner, member of the MCD Standing Committee, BJP Delhi Pradesh office or BJP Councillor about the roads on which there is more than 50 per cent commercial activity and where more than 70 per cent properties are under commercial use. This, he said, would help in including these roads in the mixed land use and commercial use categories.
Stating that the BJP had promised in its election manifesto that it would provide relief from sealing and demolitions, Dr. Vardhan said the party had already directed the Municipal Commissioner to conduct a comprehensive survey of Delhi for including more roads in the mixed land use and commercial category in addition to the already notified 2183 and 355 roads.
Holding that permanent relief from sealing and demolition could be provided to people only through an amnesty scheme, Dr. Vardhan said this move would provide relief to all without depriving them of their livelihood and would also help retain the present commercial character of Delhi.
