NEW DELHI: The Working Committee of the Delhi BJP on Saturday passed a resolution declaring that if the party is voted to power in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections it will take all necessary steps on a priority basis for regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the manner the process was undertaken in 1971, 1977 and 1994.
Announcing this at a press conference, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan said the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Jagdish Mukhi, had moved the resolution on the unauthorised colonies and party leader Mewa Ram Arya had seconded it.
“An election stunt”
Terming the recent decision of the Congress Government in Delhi to provide provisional registration to the 1,409 unauthorised colonies as an election stunt, Dr. Vardhan said the party resolution also charged that the decision to issue provisional certificates within a year had exposed the real face of the Congress before the people.
He said this announcement was a fraud because till the time the land use is changed in the new Master Plan for Delhi-2021 not a single colony can be regularised. With the terms for regularisation being very stern and complicated, he said the Congress was using this issue only to mislead the people ahead of the Assembly elections. Dr. Vardhan questioned why regularisation had not been done on the easier terms of 1976-77 regularisation despite repeated promises by the Congress.
