The Attorney-General of India Goolam Essaji Vahanvati has extended his support for a Central legislation that will protect the livelihood of street vendors, according to the National Association of Street Vendors of India.

“Union Ministry of Housing & Poverty Alleviation Secretary Arun Kumar Mishra has confirmed that the Attorney-General is in favour of a Central law to protect our rights,” said the organisation's cocoordinator Arbind Singh.
