The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the bail application of Aruna Chaddha whom the Delhi Police are prosecuting in the Geetika Sharma suicide case.
Dismissing the plea, Justice Pratibha Rani said she would pass a detailed order later.
Chaddha along with former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda is facing prosecution in the case for allegedly abetting Geetika to commit suicide.
The accused had sought bail arguing that there was no requirement to keep her in custody as the police had wrapped up the investigation and filed a charge sheet in the case.
The lower court had in October refused to grant bail to her, saying that there was a likelihood of tampering with evidence by her if she was enlarged on bail.
Justice Pratibha Rani had earlier refused to grant bail to Kanda. He had also sought bail submitting that the police had concluded the investigation into the charges against him.
The police have charge-sheeted the two under Sections 306 (abetment of suicide),120 B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation), 201 (destruction of evidence), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery with intention to cheat), 469 (forgery with intention to harm reputation) and 471 (using forged documents as genuine) of the Indian Penal Code.
Former air hostess Geetika was found dead on August 5 at her Ashok Vihar residence in North West Delhi. In her suicide notes, 23-year-old Geetika had said she was ending her life due to “harassment’’ by Kanda and Chaddha.
