NEW DELHI: For Indian students aspiring to study in the US, IDP Education has opened six counselling centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Chennai.

For placement in the US universities, counsellors assess a student's academic qualifications, work experience and extra-curricular, social and sporting activities and financial affordability. Based on these criteria, they effectively match students with a set of universities that best meet their unique abilities, desires and needs.

Assistance for students

The counsellors help students create a short list of universities and, if necessary, assist them in choosing an appropriate area of study. They also guide them on how to go about the challenging US admissions process including preparation of an application packet, communicating with universities on the status, visa counselling process and finally pre-departure seminars to help students understand what to expect on the campus and living in the US.

According to IDP Regional Director (South Asia) Harmeet Pental, IDP counsellors have a methodology to stimulate interest of students in everything they do starting with the ability to listen, understand and jointly establish education goals and then working towards achieving them.

IDP will also conduct a series of seminars on various topics. The seminars will offer an open platform for students to come and have a freewheeling interaction with experts on US higher education. A seminar on “Why US higher education and how IDP can help you achieve your dreams” will be held in Delhi on April 17, “How to Build a winning application packet” will be organised on May 1 and “Pursuing Engineering in the U.S. Academic requirement and the road ahead” will be held on May 14.

“Our state-of-the-art global software accessible by all counsellors allows for quick and accurate response to all queries. The goal is to assist and guide a student through all steps to enrolment and safe arrival on campus,” said Mr. Pental.
