NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has constituted a high-power “emergency response team” to ensure uninterrupted power supply and tackle power-related emergencies during the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the Capital.

The team comprises State Principal Secretary (Power) Rajendra Kumar and representatives of the power distribution companies.

Two senior BSES officials, Subhash C. Sharma and Mool Chand Sharma, have been nominated to the team.

Mr. Kumar has directed all the power utilities -- BRPL, BYPL, NDPL, DTL, IPGCL and PPGCL -- to extend “all assistance whenever required” to the emergency response team.

“Besides coordinating with the power utilities to ensure there is no problem regarding power supply in Delhi and in any of the Games venues and the Commonwealth Games Village, the team will also conduct mock drills in consultation with the Central Electricity Authority. This will ensure that all the power companies are fully geared to take care of any eventuality,” said a BSES official.

The emergency responseteam will also visit all the Commonwealth Games venues and assess the power supply system in detail and submit its report to the Principal Secretary (Power) every fortnight with suggestions for further improvement.
