Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha on Monday moved the Delhi High Court seeking initiation of contempt of court proceedings against Capital’s Matia Mahal MLA Shoaib Iqbal, the Union Government, the Delhi Police Commissioner and others alleging that they had failed to comply with the Court order on the site in the Walled City of Delhi where ruins of Mughal period Akbarabadi Masjid are believed to have been found during drilling for a station by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

The High Court last Friday directed the North Delhi Municipal Corporation to cordon off the site and hand it over to the Archaeological Survey of India to ascertain the character of the ruins.

Taking the petition on record, a Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice A. K. Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw posted the matter on July 25, the next date of hearing on the matter.
