NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi launched a special sanitation and cleanliness drive over the weekend to give a facelift to Delhi on the occasion of Maha Shivratri this Monday.
MCD Standing Committee chairman Vijender Gupta said: “Special emphasis will be laid on ensuring cleanliness in areas around various temples keeping in mind the large number of devotees who will be coming to these temples. It would be ensured that proper standard of sanitation is maintained by the field agencies with proper supervision at the ground level.”
“The sanitation-cum-cleanliness drive cannot be successful with merely the participation of safai karamcharies. It requires a team effort by all supervisory staff and officers of various departments of the civic body as well as the citizens,” he added. Mr. Gupta directed Additional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of all the 12 zones to ensure proper implementation of the sanitation drive in their respective zones through inspection of the areas under their charge in the morning and recording of their observations after monitoring.
