Hutch Shop launched

NEW DELHI: Mobile operator Hutch on Wednesday launched "The Mobile Hutch Shop" -- a first-of-its-kind service in the Capital -- to provide online customer service to subscribers at their doorstep.

According to Hutchison Essar (Delhi) operations director Sanjoy Mukerji, this innovative retailing concept will enable subscribers to walk into any of the Mobile Hutch Shops and buy new connections or get their queries answered.

Last date extended

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has decided to extend the date for submission of application forms for its "Diploma in Value Added Products from Fruits and Vegetables" programme up to February 15. Duly filled application forms should be submitted to the regional centre concerned before the due date, an IGNOU release said.

Sheila visits NCC camp

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit visited the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp here on Tuesday.

Acknowledging the role of NCC in grooming the citizens of tomorrow, Ms. Dikshit said the country's future was in safe hands.

Vendors' plea

NEW DELHI: The All-India Vendors' Association has urged Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav to scrap the proposal to transfer catering work to bigger contractors as it would affect lakhs of poor vendors. The organisation said that the vendors should be given the contract directly.

Sports meet planned

NEW DELHI: Benodini Centre for Urban and Rural Development is organising an inter-school sports meet at Nehru Stadium here on Thursday to coincide with the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda which is also celebrated as 'National Youth Day'. A large number of students from secondary and senior secondary schools across the Capital are expected to participate. The proceeds will be donated to 'Home Base' meant for orphaned and disabled children.

NEW DELHI: The National Projects Construction Corporation Limited celebrated its 49th Annual Day here on Monday.

Addressing the employees, Chairman-cum-Managing Director Arbind Kumar said the Corporation had achieved an all-time high turnover of Rs.355 crores last December.

'Gangster' held

NEW DELHI: An alleged gangster wanted by the Bihar police in several cases of murder and suspected to have links with kidnappers and extortionists in Bihar has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police. The police arrested the accused, Visheshwar Ojha, a resident of Bhojpur district in Bihar, on Tuesday. According to the police, Visheshwar had committed murder for the first time in 1993 following a land dispute.
