NEW DELHI: A three-day "Apparel Machinery Exposition-2006" organised by the Clothing Manufacturers' Association of India (CMAI) opened at Pragati Maidan here on Thursday.

Showcasing the latest machineries in sewing, knitting, laundry and finishing, embroidery, apparel accessories and support system, the exposition -- whose theme is "Think Technology" -- was inaugurated by Union Textiles Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela.

The event supported by the Union Ministry of Textiles, Apparel Export Promotion Council, Apparel Exporters and Manufacturers' Association, Apparel and Handloom Exporters Association and Tirupur Exporters Association is being attended by over 400 companies.

"After dismantling of the textile quota regime, garment business in India is all set to expand in the domestic and export market, " said CMAI president Premal Udani.
