New permanent judges for Delhi High CourtNEW DELHI: The President has appointed Justice Jaspal Singh, Justice Manju Goel, Justice Anil Kumar, Justice Gita Mittal, Justice Shripathi Ravindra Bhat, Justice Rekha Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna -- all Additional Judges of the Delhi High Court so far -- as permanent Judges of the Delhi High Court, in that order of seniority, from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices, according to an official announcement here on Friday.

Indo-Russian bilateral tiesNEW DELHI: A seminar on "Indo-Russian Diplomatic Relations -- A Vision to Strategic Partnership" organised by the Russian Centre of Science, Culture and Foreign Policy Research Institute was held at Ferozeshah Road here on Friday.

Delivering the inaugural address, Union Minister of State for Planning M. V. Guru Puja Diwas celebratedNEW DELHI: Sant Nirankari Mission celebrated Guru Puja Diwas on Thursday. The main feature of the celebrations was a series of rallies taken out by volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Sewa Dal that has entered its golden jubilee year.

Do's and don'ts for diabeticsNEW DELHI: Heart Care Foundation of India president K.K. Aggarwal has said that a better metabolic control of type-II diabetes can lead to improved working memory, the type of memory people use for their day-to-day activities.

In a release, Dr. Aggarwal said the risk of stroke in people diagnosed with type-II diabetes was twice as much compared to the general population and those under 55 years were at a greatest risk. In the first five years, more than nine per cent are admitted to hospital for stroke in such cases. "All diabetic patients should pay attention to cholesterol and blood pressure. They should also stop smoking, lead an active lifestyle and eat a diet high in whole grains and vegetables."

Painting competitionNEW DELHI: Students of Maharaja Agarsain Public School, Ashok Vihar, got a running trophy from St. Mark School, Janakpuri, for winning the maximum number of prizes in a drawing and painting competition at a function here on Thursday.

The competition, held under the guidance of eminent painter Roop Chand, was attended by many schools.
