Sitarist Prateek Chaudhuri to perform at Kamani

Music lovers in the Capital will get an opportunity to see well-known sitar player Prateek Chaudhuri perform at the sixth Annual Music Festival of the Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan Music Society at Kamani Auditorium on Friday.

This Delhi-born artiste will perform a "julgalbandi" with Murad Ali, who will play the sarangi.

Having had the good fortune to hone his skills under the tutelage of Ustad Mushtaq Ali Khan Sahab, the legend of the Senia tradition, Prateek these days is making waves with his performances. Prateek has won several awards including "Pandit Nikhil Bannerjee Award", "The Best Instrumentalist Award" and "Surmani Award".

He has also explored fusion and world music in both India and abroad.

He has performed with Louis Banks, the renowned Jazz keyboardist and Sivamani, the noted percussionist. Not afraid to explore uncharted territory, he has also experimented with Carnatic music.

And recently he formed a highly successful "World Music Fusion Group" of his own. Madhur Tankha
