NEW DELHI: Indian Railways is organising a two-day international seminar on "Growing Challenges of Terrorism" in the Capital beginning Wednesday. Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav will inaugurate the seminar.

National Security Advisor M. K. Narayanan will deliver the keynote address at the seminar, while Minister of State for Railways R. Velu will address the valedictory session. Indian Railways is organising the seminar in collaboration with the International Union of Railways (UIC), a global organisation for international cooperation among railways and promotion of the rail transport mode.

The seminar will also focus on "exchange of experiences on best practices to save time in defining security policies, security practices and relationships between different railways".

The event will not only bring together top officers of police and security forces providing security to the rail sector but also see participation of various State police chiefs and heads of paramilitary forces. Similarly, foreign delegates from France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Russia, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S. will also take part in the seminar and share their experiences and technologies used in dealing with the issue.
