Lalu to flag off Poorbia ExpressNEW DELHI: Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad will flag off the Poorbia Express from Adarsh Nagar railway station here on Friday. The train will run from Adarsh Nagar to Saharsa.

Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri, State Industries Minister Mangat Ram Singhal and other senior Railway officials will also be present.

Special arrangements for registrationNEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has made special arrangements to help traders in online registration of shops at Citizen Service Bureaus in all 12 MCD zonal offices.

With help from the MCD staff, traders can get themselves registered online by filling the format on computer. They will be provided with registration ID numbers and would be required to deposit a draft along with necessary documents at Easy Bill centres

Tihar inmates celebrate ChristmasNEW DELHI: Over 500 prisoners, majority of them foreigners, of Jail No 4 in Tihar Jail here participated in a cultural programme to celebrate Christmas and welcome the New Year.

These prisoners, distributed sweets among themselves, sang their local songs and participated in group dances, sources in Tihar jail said.

Sleep disorderNEW DELHI: Daytime sleepiness brought about by obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may go hand in hand with heart problems, according to Dr. K.K.Aggarwal, president of Heart Care Foundation of India.

Quoting a study published in the journal "Sleep', Dr. Aggarwal said OSA patients with more complaints of daytime sleepiness had a decreased effectiveness of the heart's pumping action. OSA is a common sleep disorder in which airways become blocked during sleep and breathing stops for brief periods

Winter carnivalNEW DELHI: A daylong winter carnival was organised at Bal Bharti Public School on Ganga Ram Hospital Marg here over the weekend. Besides a variety of games on offer, a cultural programme was also presented by the students. Among those who visited the carnival was Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan.

Vaikuntha EkadasiNEW DELHI: "Sorga Vasal" celebrations at Sri Vaikuntanathar temple on Vedantha Desika Marg at Ber Sarai here will begin at 5-55 a.m. on Saturday to mark Vaikuntha Ekadasi.

The celebrations will end with "Thirumanjanam" and the temple will remain open throughout the day up to 8-30 p.m.
