Felicitating senior citizensNEW DELHI: The Eminent, a non-government organisation working for the betterment of the elderly, along with the Delhi police, will felicitate senior citizens at the launch of "Inspire" magazine here on Tuesday. On the occasion, the Delhi police will also set-up a help desk for the benefit of the elderly.

Union Minister of State for Home S. Regupathy would honour the senior citizens, mostly fathers of the Kargil War heroes with a certificate, shawl and Rs. 3,100, the NGO president A.K. Aggarwal said.

Two men killed in accidentNEW DELHI: Two young men, including a small-time serial director, were killed when a speeding Maruti Zen car hit them at Alipur in North-West Delhi on Sunday.

According to the police, the accident took place around 3-30 p.m. Sikandar (32), who had directed a tele-serial named "Bechara Saheb", and his friend Jayant (25), were changing a flat tyre of their Maruti 800 car in the Tikri Khurd area of Alipur when the Maruti Zen -- bearing a Haryana registration number -- hit them. Instead of applying the brakes, the culprit fled from the scene. A woman accompanying the duo escaped unhurt.

The police were called in and the injured rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered and police are trying to identify the vehicle involved in the accident.

Baby `stolen' NEW DELHI: A newborn baby was stolen from Jeevan Nursing Home at Maharani Bagh in South Delhi on Sunday. According to the police, Anokhi, mother-in-law of Shabana, was with her grandchild outside the general ward when a woman approached her. After befriending her, the woman took possession of the child, sent Anokhi to the hospital canteen on some pretext and then `vanished' with the child. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

One held for murderNEW DELHI: A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the mysterious death of a young woman at Roop Nagar in North Delhi on Friday night. The post-mortem report is still awaited.

Lucy, who worked in a beauty parlour, had gone out with one Ajay Luthra for dinner. They allegedly took drinks, following which Lucy fell unconscious and Ajay took her to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Hospital inauguratedNEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Ram Babu Sharma inaugurated Shree Shahdara Sardar Inder Singh Azad Ayurvedic Panch Karma Hospital at Shri Ram Nagar in North-East Delhi on Sunday. The hospitalwould function round-the-clock. It has been named after the former Metropolitan Council member of the area. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma talked about the utility of "panch karma" in ayurved and its effectiveness in daily life. DPCC general secretaries Sunil Vohra and Deepak Gothi attended the function.
