Taking the health hazards of tobacco and nicotine into account, the Panchkula Administration on Wednesday banned hookah bars in the district.

The orders, which were issued by Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police Maneesh Chaudhry, said that “hookah bars” are serving tobacco molasses containing nicotine which is injurious to the health of the people, especially college students and youth. The people, especially the youth were being spoiled by these illegally run “Hookah Bars”, the order further said. The operation of such bars has been prohibited in the entire district with immediate effect, an official spokesman said. - PTI
