Karisma Kapoor looking for new roles in Bollywood

NEW DELHI: With film offers coming in droves from top production houses, ravishing Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor is toying with the idea of doing some rib tickling comedies.

Speaking at the launch of a new store in the South Delhi area, Karisma says: “Over the years, I have acted in various genres of films. These days I am being approached for different roles in Bollywood. I am looking forward to doing some comedy films. When I started my innings in Bollywood I had not even attained the age of 16. Acting was not another career pursuit but a big responsibility considering the legacy of my grandfather Raj Kapoor. Those days we actors had to struggle a lot more than the current crop of actors. With so much exposure on the idiot box and the Internet these days, budding actors get instant recognition that they crave for.”

Analysing her younger sister’s career in the dream factories of Bollywood, Karisma says she is satisfied with what all Bebo has achieved on the big screen.

“I am impressed with Bebo’s achievements. She has worked really hard in delivering good performances in different kind of roles. I was bowled over by her acting ability in films like ‘Refugee’ and ‘Jab We Met’. I think these two are my favourite films.”

But Karisma refused to elaborate on the private life of her younger sibling. “All that I can say is that I had a wonderful time acting opposite Saif Ali Khan in ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’,” added the actor, who is known for commercial films like “Raja Hindustani” as well as art films like “Fiza” and “Zubeidaa”.

Sporting a black evening gown designed by Kapil and Monika Arora, Karisma says she sports either black or white dresses. “More than flashy dresses, I believe what you are as a person reflects on your clothes. I have seen dresses of the couple and can describe them as very festival, vibrant and happy.”

Karisma, who was the guest of honour at the function, says she looks upon the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Maharani Gayatri Devi and British supermodel Kate Moss as the ultimate style icons.

Designer Kapil said the dress designed for Karisma was a party wear. “It is a joint effort by my wife Monika and me. Karisma is a good friend and so decided to launch our store,” adds the designer, who along with his better half started off as fashion retailers before launching their own fashion label.
