Two persons are suspected to be involved in the crime

NEW DELHI: At least two persons are suspected to be involved in the murder of a 70-year-old woman, whose body was found at her Greater Kailash Part-I residence here on Wednesday.

The fingerprints lifted from the scene of crime have indicated the presence of at least two persons other than the victim, Nishi Banga, in the house.

“We are investigating all possible angles, including robbery,” said a senior police officer, adding that they were trying to find out if any valuables were missing from the house.

Over 60 people, including labourers working on the construction sites near Ms. Banga’s two-storey building, have been quizzed in connection with the murder.

But the police have so far not got any clue to the case. They are also questioning Ms. Banga’s domestic help Kalu.

Ms. Banga’s husband Harbans Banga arrived from Italy on Thursday and is cooperating with the police in the investigations.

Their sons are expected to come on Friday when her post-mortem would be conducted.

The retired NCERT employee’s body was found on her bed with her hands and legs tied up. The police suspect that she was gagged and then strangled.

The murder came to light around 7 a.m. after Kalu alerted her tenants when he did not get any response despite repeated knocks at the door.

Suspecting that something was amiss, the tenants, who live on the ground floor, called in the police.
