NEW DELHI: Foggy conditions prevailed on Thursday morning with a thick blanket of fog enveloping the Capital and reducing visibility to a few hundred metres. The next few days will only see an intensification of fog with the Meteorological Department forecasting “hazy conditions till forenoon” for Friday.
According to the weatherman, the prevailing fog is due to moisture-laden winds from the Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, States experiencing rainfall these days, descending on the Capital. Like every winter that turns the Capital into a blur of ghostly apparitions, this time too the fog will only reinforce its presence as the temperature dips.
The minimum temperature on Thursday was 9.7 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 19.6 degrees Celsius. “Finally, the fog is here in all its glory. Deeper into the season, one can only sit and watch how the haze incapacitates all traffic movement and plays havoc with flight and train schedules ,” said Rachita Jha, a non-government organisation employee.
