NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro rider-ship touched a new high of over eight lakh passengers on Friday.

Metro officials attributed the rush mainly to the ongoing India International Trade Fair and the pre-Gur Purab celebrations. Over Rs.88 lakh in revenue was raised from ticket sales during the day.

On Saturday, the Metro rider-ship was about 5.8 lakh up to 7-45 p.m. — much higher than the average of 4 lakh for Saturdays. The Metro recorded its last highest rider-ship of 7.95 lakh on October 15.
