At India International Trade Fair later this month

NEW DELHI: Titled “Delhi @ 10”, an artistic blend of India’s 60 years of independence with 10 years of Delhi’s unprecedented development will mark Delhi’s pavilion at this year’s India International Trade Fair later this month.

According to Manoj Parida, the Managing Director of Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), the Capital has transformed into a modern and hi-tech city in the past decade and is all set to hold the Commonwealth Games in 2010. “The pavilion will focus on the unprecedented achievements of the Delhi Government in the past 10 years in fields ranging from industry, forestry, health, power, education and social welfare.”

As part of the event, the Rajiv Ratna Awaas Scheme, inaugurated by United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and implemented by DSIIDC for providing economical housing solutions to the poor, will be specially highlighted.

Mr. Parida said the pavilion will drive home the point that Delhi had not lost any of its heritage and culture even as it stepped into the world of modern transportation telecommunication.

“The wall of the pavilion will pictorially depict the achievements of the Delhi government. One section of the wall will be dedicated to the Commonwealth Games which will be held in India for the first time. The mascot of the Games, “Shera”, will occupy the pride of place on the roof of the stadium,” he added.

The Delhi Pavilion is one of the most popular exhibits at the annual Trade Fair and attracts thousands of people. Various departments and ministries of the Delhi government will take an active part in its organisation.
