The Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi is going to organise film shows and talks this month for students to sensitise them to issues of gender.

“The Committee will get eminent persons like filmmakers to discuss various issues of masculinity. We will organise screenings of documentaries as well. We will involve the students’ union in this process to get the students to participate in such events,” says GSCASH chairperson Parnal Chirmuley. GSCASH, which has representations from students, teachers, staff, karamcharis and all elected bodies of JNU, is planning to conduct such workshops for the non-teaching employees as well

The Indian National Science Academy has elected a member of the Jamia Millia Islamia faculty as a fellow of the National Academy.

Prof. Faizan Ahmad, who is director of the Centre for Inter-Disciplinary Research in Basic Sciences, has earned this recognition for his contribution to solving problems related to “protein folding and protein stabilisation” and development of methods of estimating protein stability under various physiological conditions, says a release.

This study is important because “mis-folded proteins” can lead to several diseases such as Alzheimer’s and the mad cow disease.

Indira Gandhi National Open University in collaboration with Hero Honda Motors Ltd. has nominated Sri Guru Harkrishan Industrial Training Centre at Tilak Nagar as their vocational training centre for launching “Certificate in Motorcycle Service and Repair”.

A memorandum of understanding was recently signed in this regard.

The programme is aimed at upgrading the skills of working motorcycle technicians, who will be trained and certified jointly by IGNOU and Hero Honda Motors Ltd.

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, has launched its International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX), a one-year residential executive programme at its Noida campus.

The course will begin next April. A core component of the programme is an international module of four-five weeks at the Faculty of Management at McGill University in Montreal.

The programme is designed for mid/senior level professionals. The course will enhance understanding of business at functional and strategic levels and prepare students to manage enterprises engaged in global business. The curriculum would focus on a strategic understanding of business, rooted in practical skill development through action learning projects and industry interface. The last date for submission of forms is November 20.
