NEW DELHI: A 17-year-old boy who had gone missing from Najafgarh here early this year has been recovered by the South-West Delhi police.

Rahul had come visiting his cousin Vinay at Najafgarh in March. He went missing on March 8 under highly mysterious circumstances. Vinay had then registered a case at the Najafgarh police station stating that Rahul had been kidnapped by some unknown persons.

Two months later, Rahul’s father Ramakant received a ransom letter written by “Chambal Ghati Ke Sher” seeking Rs. 11,51,521 as ransom for his release.

On August 29, Ramakant received a missed call on his mobile phone. A police team tracing the call to Hardwar reached there to investigate the matter. During the investigation, the team learnt that a boy bearing similarity to Rahul had been arrested by the Hardwar police a few days ago. The police team visited the Roshanabad jail and found Rahul, who had given a false address to the Hardwar police, lodged there. The boy purportedly the police that he was depressed and had left the house on his own. The police said the ransom letter was apparently written by some prankster on seeing the posters.
