NEW DELHI: A young man allegedly involved in several criminal cases has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police in Mayur Vihar Phase-II here. The police claim to have seized a country-made firearm and live cartridges from him.

Acting on a tip-off that Aftab Ahmed, allegedly involved in cases of attempt to murder, robbery and under the Arms Act, would come to Mayur Vihar to meet one of his accomplices, the police laid a trap and arrested him on Wednesday night.

During interrogation, Aftab purportedly disclosed that he was earlier an auto-rickshaw driver. He was initiated into the world of crime in 2000 when he allegedly tipped off some robbers about one of his passengers. The robbers then intercepted his auto-rickshaw and robbed the passenger.
