NEW DELHI: The much-awaited 14th edition of “Delhi Book Fair-2008” will display both Indian and international publications for bookworms at Pragati Maidan here beginning August 30.

Organised by the Federation of Indian Publishers and the India Trade Promotion Organisation, the nine-day long book fair is expected to be inaugurated by Vice-President Hamid Ansari. This year the Delhi Book Fair’s theme, “tribute to the works of women authors”, is aimed at encouraging women authors from across the country.

Over 300 leading Indian publishers and participants from the United States, China, Pakistan, Iran, Germany, Sweden and Spain will display their books across 1,500 square metres of the exhibition hall to attract bibliophiles from Delhi and National Capital Region.

To inspire the Generation X to browse more and more books and increase their general knowledge, the fair will organise a number of seminars, conferences, book releases and painting competition.

According to Federation of Indian Publishers honorary general secretary Shakti Malik, the fair will witness the participation of renowned Indian and international publishers and distributors. “The endeavour is to promote books of popular Indian authors and Indian publishers. The success of previous year’s Delhi Book Fair has inspired the organisers to add new variety with the intention of making India a book reading society.”

A wide range of books in fiction, non-fiction, academic and technical fields as also text-books, reference books, classics, dictionaries, encyclopaedias and children’s literature would be up for display and sale at the fair.
