NEW DELHI: Anticipating a heavy rush of commuters on Raksha Bandhan day on Saturday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will run three extra trains on its lines. In addition, one spare train will be kept as a standby on each of the three lines to handle any unexpected rush of passengers.

Taking note of the additional rush of passengers who used the metro to commute on Raksha Bandhan during the previous years, the DMRC has decided to increase the manpower as well as the number of trains for the convenience of the public.

According to DMRC officials, extra personnel to handle the heavy passenger load will be deployed at the ticketing systems at all stations. The metro ticketing staff will do an additional 80 shifts of four hours each on Raksha Bandhan day in view of the expected rush.

“The DMRC will also deploy more customer facilitation agents to help and guide commuters, 53 more shifts of four hours each have been arranged for this purpose,” said a DMRC official.

To ensure hassle-free travel for commuters, extra manpower will be deployed at Dilshad Garden, Shahdara, Welcome, Seelampur, Pitampura, Rohini (East), Rohini (West) and Rithala on Line-I and Nawada, Uttam Nagar (East), Janakpuri (West) and Indraprastha on Line-III.
