Ranchi: A special CBI court on Monday awarded sentences of imprisonment up to seven years to 13 persons convicted in the fodder scam case pertaining to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 39 crore from Chaibasa treasury.

The pronouncements take to 52 the total number of people sentenced in the case.

The court of B. K. Sahay awarded seven-year prison terms to suppliers Ravi Sinha and Mohammad Sayed besides slapping a fine of Rs 1.25 crore on Sayed and Rs 1.05 crore on Sinha.

The court also awarded prison terms to advocate Pranab Kumar Baboo (four years and Rs 10 lakh fine), Anil Kumar (four years and Rs seven lakh fine), Manish Kumar Jaiswal (three years and Rs five lakh fine), Bharat Kumar (four years and Rs two lakh), Chandrasekhar Dubey (four years and Rs 40 lakh fine), Bijay Kumar Mullick (six years and Rs 50 lakh fine), Mahendra Kundan (six years and Rs 50 lakh fine), Mohd Ikram (four years and Rs 25 lakh fine), Mohd Tohit (five years and Rs 40 lakh fine), Mohd Hussain (four years and Rs 25 lakh fine) and Sana-ul-Haq (four years and Rs 25 lakh fine).

The court fixed July 23 for the next pronouncements in the case. PTI
