Alleges corruption in govt. depts

NEW DELHI: Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president Harsh Vardhan on Saturday assured representatives of industry in the Capital that a Delhi Industrial Development Board would be constituted if the BJP comes to power after the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections later this year.

Speaking to representatives of industry from across the city at a meeting here, Dr. Vardhan said the Board would work towards formulating simple and industry-friendly policies.

Dr. Vardhan said the industries in the Capital had virtually gone dead in the past ten years of Congress rule. “Nearly three lakh industrialists who pay crores of rupees in taxes to the Government are not getting even basic amenities,” he said. The BJP leader also charged that the Government was only harassing the industrialists. “The BJP will remove all discrepancies and develop Delhi as the industrial Capital again,” promised Dr. Vardhan.

Industries suffering

The BJP Industries Cell in-charge Shyam Lal Garg said that due to lack of coordination among various departments of the Government and a great deal of corruption and red tape, industrialists in the Capital were suffering badly.

“If the BJP comes to power, a single-window system would be created to prevent any harassment to the industry,” said Mr. Garg.

Representatives from industries located in various areas of the Capital like Jhilmil, Shahzada Bagh, Wazirpur, G.T. Karnal Road, Badli and Bawana and from the Confederation of Delhi Industries attended the meeting.
