NEW DELHI: The Property Tax Department of the MCD has rectified its software and incorporated the tax concessions and other rebates that have been announced by the MCD for the current financial year. Informing media persons about the changes, MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said on Saturday that besides automatically calculating the concessions and rebates before giving out a final figure, the new online system would also give information about the arrears. For the first time, property tax payers who had availed of the one-time payment scheme in the pre-Unit Area Scheme days can also pay tax online now, said Mr. Gupta. But they would have to confirm their arrears by paying a visit to their respective MCD zonal offices, he added. Further, beginning Saturday, property tax can also be paid through ITZ Cash, informed Mr. Gupta. The payment gateway has more than 800 outlets across the Capital. For paying the tax through ITZ Cash, the taxpayer will have to pay Rs.10 for generating a challan or pay 2.4 per cent of the tax amount while paying in cash. The receipt in that case would be issued instantly.

While Mr. Gupta appealed to the citizens to pay their property tax online, he said they could also pay manually at their zonal offices.
