NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha on Friday took out a scooter rally from Raj Ghat to Punjabi Bagh via Ring Road to protest against the recent increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas by the United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre.

Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan and Yuva Morcha president Anil Sharma led the rally in which a large number of youth workers of the party participated.

Addressing the workers, Dr. Vardhan said the impact of the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel had started showing.

High cargo freight rates

At the very first instance, he said, surveys had revealed that the cargo freight rates had shot up by 10 to 15 per cent while truckers had started charging 8 to 10 per cent more in the past week.

The BJP leader cautioned that in such circumstances it was only natural that the prices of all the essential commodities, including foodgrains, would go up further in the coming days.

Leaders present

Several BJP leaders, including Pawan Sharma, Alok Kumar, Bhola Nath Vij, Vijay Sharma, Subhash Arya, Rajiv Babbar and Jai Prakash, addressed the rally.
