NEW DELHI: The Capital’s private power distribution companies have signed a long-term agreement for ensuring 2,471 MW of power supply to the Capital for periods of up to 25 years.

The agreements were signed by Ramesh Narayanan of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, Yash Mehra of BSES Yamuna Power Limited, S.N. Goyal of NTPC and P.K. Modi of Aravali Power Corporation Limited in the presence of Delhi Power Secretary Rajendra Kumar, NTPC Executive Director NCR (Commercial) I.J. Kapoor and BRPL CEO Arun Kanchan at the Delhi Secretariat. According to the Delhi Government’s Power Department, a power purchase agreement (PPA) has been signed between NTPC and BSES Rajdhani Power Limited as well as BSES Yamuna Power Limited for purchase of power from the Dadri and Badarpur power stations besides other power stations of NTPC located in the Northern region. By this agreement 1,721 MW power would be supplied by NTPC.

Another PPA has been signed with Aravali Power Company under which Aravali Power Corporation Limited will supply 750 MW of power to Delhi from its power station at Jhajjar in Haryana.
