NEW DELHI: Giving an ultimatum, the Delhi High Court on Monday directed the Delhi police to produce before it within three days two minor girls who have been missing from Uttam Nagar in West Delhi since December 2007.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Vikramjit Sen and Justice Rajiv Endlaw issued the direction on a pending habeas corpus petition by Salma Bano, the mother of the two missing girls. The Court had in January this year directed the police to produce the two girls on April 21.

Earlier, the police sought more time to trace the two girls. Allowing their plea, the Court asked them to produce the two girls on April 24.The elder one is 16 years and the younger four years old.

The petitioner submitted that her daughters had gone missing on December 12 last year. She alleged that she had information that her two daughters had been kidnapped by Gaurav, a local. She submitted that the accused had married her elder daughter while there was no information about the younger one. She said the local police and higher officials had failed to take any measures to trace her daughters.
