Man allegedly shoots himself
NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old unemployed man allegedly shot himself at Badarpur here on Monday.
According to the police, Vijay Kumar fired a shot from a country-made pistol and put an end to his life on Monday morning. He had earlier asked his father in the morning that he wanted to have fish in the breakfast. After his father left for the market, he allegedly committed suicide. He had made attempts to commit suicide earlier as well, the police said.
Minor boy arrested
NEW DELHI: A minor boy has been arrested for allegedly making an attempt to criminally assault a 12-year-old girl.
According to the police, the girl was sleeping in the veranda of her house on Sunday night when the boy forcibly took her inside the room of her house and tried to assault her. The girl raised an alarm and her mother and brother woke up. Meanwhile, the boy's paternal uncles also reached there and beat up the girl's family members.
The victim's family later filed a complaint and the boy and his uncles were arrested.
Man arrested for burglary
NEW DELHI: The North-East Delhi police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a burglary at Welcome here on Saturday. The police claim to have recovered Rs. 8.4 lakh of the stolen money and some jewellery from his possession.
The police received a complaint from Chunne Khan alleging that Rs. 10 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs. 1.5 lakh were stolen from his house. Investigations led them to one of the acquaintances of the complainant, Mohammad Nasir. During interrogation, he purportedly confessed to having broken into Chunne Khan's house along with his accomplice Juber and stolen the cash and jewellery. A hunt has been launched for Juber.
Two held in theft cases
NEW DELHI: Two persons hailing from Uttar Pradesh have been arrested by East Delhi police for their alleged involvement in cases of theft and bag lifting. The police claim to have recovered a country-made firearm from the possession of the duo who were nabbed at Wazirabad.
The accused have been identified as Tahir and Rizwan. During interrogation, they purportedly confessed to their involvement in several cases of theft and bag lifting in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh police had announced a reward of Rs. 2,500 each on them.
Free eye camp
NEW DELHI: A free eye camp will be organised jointly by Tarun Mitra Parishad and Mitra Sangam Delhi at Tagore Public School here on May 2.
According to Tarun Mitra Parishad, all the patients will be provided free medical facilities, medicines, board, lodging and lenses. A team from St. Stephen's Hospital will select patients for cataract operations to be conducted free of cost at the hospital.
