Army Chief General Bikram Singh on Wednesday flagged off a joint Indo-Nepal Army mountaineering expedition to the Mount Everest.

Another expedition of the cadets of the National Cadet Corps to the Everest was flagged off by Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh. The Army expedition, planned to coincide with the diamond jubilee of the first ascent on the Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, aims to not only scale the peak but also clean the non-biodegradable garbage accumulated on the route to the peak over the decades, an Army release said.

This is the fourth joint Indo-Nepal Army mountaineering expedition. PTI
