To recognise the exceptional contribution made by individuals and organisations to environment conservation, the Nature Forever Society has called for nominations for the NFS Sparrow Awards 2013.

The NFS, a unique organisation spearheading efforts to save the house sparrow and other common fauna, launched its first Sparrow Awards in March 2011. “We believe in applauding efforts of silent heroes of the environment who work without any government funding and do not seek any recognition,” say organisers.

Nominees could be those who demonstrate dedication and contribute towards nature conservation, create awareness and develop innovative green technologies, individuals and organisations working for issues related to the environment in their own capacity with their own resources or with little support. Those working full time in the field of environment and conservation will not be considered for the award.

The awards will be in two categories, three for individuals and one for organisations including business/ institutions or community groups. The last date for receiving nominations is February 23.
