“This has led to an exodus of Sikh and Hindu families”

NEW DELHI: Workers of the National Akali Dal staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here on Sunday protesting against the atrocities committed by the Taliban against the Sikhs and Hindus in Pakistan.

Along with workers of the Delhi Hindu Mahasangh, the protesters raised slogans against Pakistan.

According to National Akali Dal president Paramjeet Singh Pamma, the Taliban has been collecting Jazia from the Sikh and Hindu families in Pakistan. “It has also prohibited girls from attending schools and colleges. All this has led to an exodus of Sikh and Hindu families from regions controlled by the Taliban,” he added.

Mr. Pamma blamed the Pakistani Government for not being able to ensure the safety of minorities in the country and also criticised the Indian Government for not taking up the matter seriously with Pakistan.
