NEW DELHI: A senior research fellow in the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here has alleged the she was harassed and her ad hoc appointment terminated for participating in the recent pro-reservation agitation at the Institute.
In a letter to Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, Dr. Ajita Gill said while "vicious propaganda and chauvinistic attitude of upper caste dominated doctors in the AIIMS campus'' has been widely reported, a small section of progressive students and doctors had a peaceful silent protest during lunch hour at AIIMS to voice their resentment against the anti-reservation propaganda.
"My participation in the group was not taken kindly in my Department and they found me incompetent post-protest even though the Head of the Department himself had given me an extension based on my performance of six months just prior to the protest. I have been verbally abused and harassed by the staff of the Department soon after the anti-reservation protest was called off on June 1.''
Dr. Gill in her letter has requested firm action against the Head of the Department and another senior physician for harassment.
