An advocate has moved the Delhi High Court seeking initiation of criminal proceedings against Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal and other party members for allegedly receiving foreign donations in violation of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act.

The petitioner urged the Court to pass directions for lodging of an FIR in the matter and conducting day-to-day trial under the Court’s supervision in the interest of justice. The accounts as well as the money received by the party should be seized, the petition stated. It submitted that the Act prohibited receipt of donations from foreign countries to a political party.

However, a Division of Justice of N.V. Ramana and Justice Manmohan recused themselves from hearing the petition when it came for hearing before them on Wednesday.

The Bench later transferred the case to another Bench for Friday.
