The Asian Development Bank has agreed to finance the construction of the 48 MW Surgani-Sundla hydro-electric project in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It has agreed to provide a loan of $ 67.9 million for the purpose. The project would be constructed in the downstream of Bera-Suil hydro power project in the district.

This was stated here by Mr Takesshi Shiihara of the South Asia division of the bank after his meeting with the State Power Minister Sujan Singh Pathania.

The ADB is already funding four hydro-electric projects in the State under the clean energy development investment programme.

These include the Sawra Kuddu, Kashang, Sainj and the Shongtong-Karcham hydro electric projects.
