Noting roadblocks faced in getting Aadhaar Cards prepared for sex workers, Bhartiya Patita Uddhar Sabha, an NGO helping sex workers and their children, has demanded that a special team of government officials visit the red light areas to speed up the process.

At an executive committee meeting of the Sabha held here over the weekend, the members discussed a survey that was conducted in Delhi’s red light areas. It revealed that sex workers were not allowed to speak to any outsiders and the kotha malkins did not wish to get them the Aadhaar Cards. After discussions, it was decided that the Deputy Director-General of the Unique Identification Authority of India would be asked to depute a special team of government officials to visit the red light areas and prepare cards for the sex workers with the help of officials from the Sabha.
