Grand show at The Grand by IIFT students

NEW DELHI: Bringing alive the rich diverse culture of various countries, students of the International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT) organised a fashion extravaganza at The Grand here this past week.

As the occasion was the celebration of IIFT's 17th birthday, the students put their best foot forward and gave their models a sophisticated classic look as well as a girl next-door image.

Some of the much sought after models like Amanpreet Wahi, Barkha Kaul, Himani Thapa, Ritu Singh and Anchal Oberoi sashayed down the ramp in high-quality clothes and dazzling accessories.

Drawing inspiration from the colourful South American country of Brazil was a collection with fission theme that revealed ethnic and tribal culture.

With its interweaving of coloured silk and gold threads, Banarasi brocade was given a makeover by young designers who came out with an exquisite collection to bring alive the holy city in all its various facets.

Taking inspiration from contemporary wear, designers also came out in innovative collection. Bringing to life the rainbow colours was a collection that showcased unique accessories and jewellery in fruit, flowers and feathers. Body-hugging tops and flowing skirts gave a young look to the collection.

The students of IIFT East Delhi Centre drew inspiration from a traditional Egyptian community to come out with a wide assortment of dresses in velvet, crepe and chiffon. To embellish the collection, the students intelligently did different types of embroideries like sequence work, kundan, mirror and pearl works.

As the idea of multiculturalism is increasingly expanding, IIFTians of Gurgaon crafted some unique outfits drawing inspiration from not only India but also the United Kingdom, Yugoslavia, Indonesia, Brazil, Albania, Mexico, Malaysia and Egypt.
