The Union Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval for allotment of a middle-income group flat constructed by the Delhi Development Authority free of cost to the family of the victim who was gang-raped in a moving bus in December last.

The allotment will be done in relaxation of the existing policy/guidelines of the DDA for allotment of houses on out-of-turn basis. The cost of the flat will be borne by the Delhi Government.

The Union Urban Development Ministry, under which the DDA functions, had forwarded the proposal to the Union Cabinet for approval.
