On the fourth day of filing of nominations for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, 73 candidates filed their papers on Thursday. Of these, two were from the Bahujan Samaj Party, one from the Nationalist Congress Party and the rest Independents.

With this, the tally of BSP nominations came up to eight and Lok Janshakti Party's to five, while two nominations were filed from Forward Bloc.

The two main parties – the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party -- are still screening applications for 272 wards that will be divided among the three Corporations after the elections. The elections for the trifurcated MCD are scheduled to be held on April 15, and counting of votes will take place on April 17. The last date for filing of nominations is March 26 and nominations can be withdrawn up to March 28.
