Thirty-eight mud houses were gutted in a fire in Samba district of Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.

Fire broke out in a ‘kulla' (mud house) in village Sodam in Samba district and spread to the entire village, they said.

The blaze was brought under control after nearly two hours. Thirty-one ‘kullas' belonging to 16 families were gutted along with household goods, they said.

In another incident in the outskirts of Samba town, seven ‘kullas' of Gujjars were burnt, police said.
