NEW DELHI: Demolition squads of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday took action against 35 unauthorised constructions in 11 of the 12 civic zones during its ongoing city-wide demolition drive against unauthorised constructions. Barring Najafgarh Zone, the civic body officials targeted two to four properties in each zone.
The drive targeted unauthorised constructions in 15 residential and 20 commercial properties that included sealing of three commercial establishments in South Zone for violating building by-laws. However, no report of any protest or resistance from public was reported.
Demolition squads razed one residential property each in Rohini and South zones, while two commercial properties were targeted in Central Zone and one in Shahdara (North) Zone. Similarly, 13 residential and 14 commercial faced partial demolition. So far the MCD has targeted 521 properties -- 149 residential and 372 commercial -- that includes sealing of 77 properties.
