New Delhi: The Income Tax Department on Tuesday seized Rs.3 crore from two persons, including a retired IAS officer, at Indira Gandhi International Airport here.

Acting on a tip-off, the Air Intelligence Wing of the IT Department intercepted the duo when they landed at the airport from Hyderabad, official sources said.

The retired IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, who had recently opted for VRS from the service, was intercepted along with a businessman friend upon arriving, sources said.

The cash was allegedly found in the officer’s luggage and it is being ascertained how they were able to board the flight with the money. -- PTI
